The Daily Mail’s target audience is lower-middle class British women, but it’s most popular readers are lower-middle class readers. However, this tone attracts reader as it is short and easily allows readers to understand the gist of the story. This has more of a conversational tone which most likely was not adopted when this actual event took place. Though the main story is a formal situation the language is informal –“you’re fired”, “I didn’t do it”. Language use – The paper is seemingly informal. Two contrasting facial expressions are used, at the top a smiling child, then lower two more angry looking adults. The images printed are exceptionally clear. This gives readers an insight into what is in the [paper and encourages them to buy to read more. These columns will be a snippet of the main story. There are four very short columns at the bottom the page. There is no extra space left on the page- it is completely filled.The image is the main filler, but text does take up some space. There is no sky line on this paper, but there is a website link underneath the masthead, as well as the date and price. The bright colours attract attention to the paper and their headline news. The actual paper itself is white, but headlines have background banners of the colours pastel blue, purple and red. The masthead is positioned in large letters from the top left corner to around the one quarter away from the right corner. This is common with tabloid papers as they have a larger picture:text ratio than broadsheets. Layout- This is a tabloid newspaper, so plastered over the front cover is a large image.
